Lees-McRae College celebrates the inauguration of Dr. Barry M. Buxton, who will become the fifteenth president in the College's 110-year history during Homecoming Weekend October 1-3. The inauguration ceremony will be held on Saturday, October 2 at 11 a.m. on Tate Lawn on the campus of Lees-McRae.
A picnic lunch sponsored by ARAMARK Higher Education will follow the ceremony on the lawn.
Later that evening, the festivities continue with the Inauguration Celebration in the Cannon Student Center at 7:30 p.m. The event will include cocktails, hors d'oeuvres and live entertainment by the Nightlife Band. Cocktail attire is required. The cost of attendance is $50 per person. Cash or check will be accepted at the door.
President Buxton's inauguration is part of Lees-McRae College's Homecoming Weekend. Weekend events will begin Friday afternoon at the new Lees-McRae College Welcome Center in the Historic Cheese House at 3 p.m. Drop in for light refreshments and learn about all the weekend's events. The annual Homecoming Parade will take a new route through campus on College Drive this year. Watch the parade on Saturday morning at 10 a.m. before making your way to Tate Lawn for Inauguration.
Other weekend events include NCAA men's and women's soccer on Tate Field, Lees-McRae Performing Arts rendition of the musical Into the Woods, several class reunions, the homecoming bonfire and so much more!
