With the end of the academic year just around the corner, ceremonies to honor the hard work and accomplishments of students, faculty and staff begin Thursday, April 14 at the 52nd Annual Honors and Awards ceremony at 4 p.m. in Evans Auditorium.
The spring 2011 semester concludes with final exams April 30 through May 4. Then, on Friday, May 6, ceremonies to honor the 2011 graduates begin with Baccalaureate service and hooding ceremony in Hayes Auditorium at 7 p.m. A dinner will be held in MacDonald Dining Hall from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. before Baccalaureate.
Lees-McRae College Commencement is Saturday, May 7 at 10 a.m. at the Williams Physical Education Center. Dr. Houck Medford, founder of the Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation, will address graduates, their families and special guests at this spring's ceremony, where approximately 210 students will have baccalaureate degrees conferred upon them and join the Lees-McRae College Alumni Association.
Two honor societies will induct new members this spring as well. First, Sigma Beta Delta Business Honor Society will induct members at a ceremony on Thursday, April 14 at 6 p.m. in Evans Auditorium. Alpha Chi National College Honor Society will induct new members at a ceremony before the Baccalaureate service, Friday, May 6 at 4 p.m. in Evans Auditorium.
