Lees-McRae College is proud to announce that Cathy Shell, director of financial aid, has been elected President-Elect of the North Carolina Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (NCASFAA).
“It is an honor to be nominated for the office of President-Elect," said Shell. "I am both honored and humbled by the confidence placed in me by the members of NCASFAA and I hope to serve them well in both the role of President-Elect and President and am grateful for the support of the administration at Lees-McRae as I take on these responsibilities.”
As the 2013-14 President-Elect, Shell will serve as the understudy to the President and as Parliamentarian of the Association. She will then be the President of NCASFA for the 2014-15 year and will officially assume those duties in July 2014.
“My career at Lees-McRae College spans twenty-nine years," said Shell, "and includes having served as an Alpha 101 instructor and freshmen academic advisor, cheerleading coach, Director of Student Accounts Receivable, Interim Vice-President for Enrollment Management, and Director of Financial Aid. Assisting students and their families secure the resources necessary to realize their goal of a quality education is both challenging and rewarding.”
Having served as Independent Sector Representative, Chair of the State and High School Relations Committee, an instructor for New Aid Officer workshops, both presenter and moderator for NCASFAA concurrent sessions, and on several committees for the past eight years, Shell has gained a thorough knowledge of the interworking of the NCASFAA and she understands how important the opportunities for professional development and training provided by NCASFAA are to those in the financial aid profession.
