If you like to sit back and watch a great show, then Lees-McRae’s Summer Theatre productions are right up your alley! With two fantastic performances left (scheduled from July 17 – August 10), you’ll have plenty of chances to enjoy the thrills of Broadway in your own backyard. This year’s remaining productions are The 39 Steps and Singin’ In The Rain.
After a sensational season-opener with Chicago, Summer Theatre is proud to present The 39 Steps from July 17-21. Broadway’s longest running comedy, The 39 Steps played its 500th performance on Broadway, May 19, 2009.
“This is one of the funniest and most rewarding shows I’ve ever directed!” said Dr. Janet Barton Speer, director for The 39 Steps and founder of Lees-McRae Summer Theatre.
In The 39 Steps, a man with a boring life meets a woman with a thick accent who says she’s a spy. When he takes her home, she is murdered. Soon, a mysterious organization called “The 39 Steps” is hot on the man’s trail in a nationwide manhunt that climaxes in a death-defying finale. A riotous blend of virtuoso performances and wildly inventive stagecraft, The 39 Steps amounts to an unforgettable evening of pure pleasure!
The 39 Steps will be performed on the following dates and times: July 17, 18, 19, 20 and 21 at 7 p.m., and July 20 and 21 at 2 p.m.
