Cal Parks may be a member of the Class of 1941, but he is still young at heart. His advice for current students is simple, “Work hard and then play, whatever play is to you. Take advantage of the opportunities you have.”
As with many of our alumni, it is hard for Cal to pick one favorite memory. “I would say the fellowship and friendships with the students and faculty, then after classes the extracurricular activities.”
He also felt that Lees-McRae helped him with much of his success in life. “Lees-McRae taught me to put important things first and to follow through with them.”
Cal also feels it is important to give back the College. “It is important to help the College meet the needs of the students. Even if you can’t give back what you would like, give back what you can.”
Cal is currently living in a retirement community in Cary, NC. He attends Sunday school and worship at his church. He says the best thing about getting old (he is 92!) is that he has the joy of having six grandchildren and three great granddaughters!
