Michelle Lucas has so many great memories from her days at Lees-McRae there is no way she could pick just one. “But if I had to choose – It would be cookouts with the Business Department. I may be biased but we were definitely the best department and had the most fun in the classroom and outside as a family!”
She also attributes much of her current success to her time at Lees-McRae. “I had always dreamed of going to a huge university, but after my first year at Lees-McRae and talking to my friends back home that summer who did go to huge universities, I realized I would have never had the ability to be as involved, and more than likely would not have done as well as I did at Lees-McRae.”
Michelle also has some good advice for current students. “Don't be scared! Do it all! Jump off the waterfalls, play in the snow, take random trips to Boone for Cookout at 1 a.m., hike Grandfather Mountain, take in the scenery, enjoy the small quaint town you are in, and always go to class, ask questions and do your homework!”
Giving back to Lees-McRae College is something she says is very important no matter how it is done. “You can give back to Lees-McRae in many ways! Ask about joining the Alumni Board, help in the wildlife center, donate your time, and most of all donate your love to the place you will always call home no matter where you end up in life. It doesn’t have to be a monetary donation, but remember one dollar is better than no dollar at all!”
Michelle is currently living in Winston Salem, N.C. and working at Inmar in the Supply Chain division focusing on Recall Management. She has no children, except one, Hazel with four legs who also was a student in many business classes at Lees-McRae!
