Welcome from the President
You have opened a portal to excitement and opportunity! As the highest mountaintop campus in the eastern United States, Lees-McRae College is an outdoor enthusiast's dream. Our campus is over 400 acres of forests, rivers, lakes and fields, at the convergence of Grandfather, Beech, and Sugar Mountains. Nearby are Pisgah and Cherokee National Forests and the Linville Gorge Wilderness Area. The campus' natural ecosystems are some of the most diverse and beautiful in the world and serve as laboratories for study in many disciplines. The area is a spectacular setting for outdoor challenges: road and mountain bicycling, rock climbing, whitewater rafting, kayaking, hiking, camping, fly-fishing, and snowboarding/skiing.
The academic and service programs are equally challenging and diverse. Our faculty is totally dedicated to your individual growth and success. Think 14 students to one professor and no graduate teaching assistants. This is personal, face-to-face, mind-to-mind education. Experts in their chosen fields, our faculty are committed to the notion that learning can cross the boundaries of academic disciplines and that the best learning takes place person-to-person, in a community where you are valued for who you are. Our passion is to help you learn the lessons of a lifetime and prepare for the profession that is in your future.
