Order of the Tower | Celebrating 50 Years

Established in 1964 by Don Baker ’57 and former faculty member Lewis Hall, the Order of the Tower is an organization serving the College in a leadership capacity to promote the general welfare of the College. For 50 years, the Order has done a great deal to promote qualities of leadership and responsibility among students, thus making membership an honor for a select group of students.

Membership is limited to sixteen outstanding students, and selections are made in April. Along with a nomination from a current Order of the Tower member, students must have a minimun grade point average of 2.75, complete an essay, provide written recommendations, and take part in an interview. Members make a deep commitment of time and energy to the Order, as they are Lees-McRae’s top leaders in skills such as organization, marketing and teamwork. The Order of the Tower's duties include assisting in orientation programs for new students, serving as hosts for visiting groups and dignitaries and for social functions sponsored by the college, and assisting with the development of the annual Honors and Awards program, along with hosting the event.

About Me: Im a 20 year old who has 8 siblings. I have one tattoo on my left arm. It is a butterfly and it represents the fact that I am the first person from my large family to go to college. My passion is anything about Horses. My dream is to open and run my horse stables for kids with unstable backgrounds and kids with stable backgrounds. I have three jobs: an RA of McMillan Residence Hall, a workstudy for Dean Driggers, a sister of Delta Omicron Theta and I have a dog named Luke. In my spare time I like to read, play video games and go on long walks by the river. My main goal in life is to be happy, and so far that goal has been reached everyday.

Advice for Incoming Students: Step outside your comfort zone, surrounded your self with kind people, live the life you want and never give up, and remember its the journey that matters not the destination. If you're not happy now, you wont be happy when you reach wherever you're trying to go.
