Criminal Justice

The Extended Campus Baccalaureate degree program enables community college graduates with an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Criminal Justice, or a related field, to continue their education and advance their career.

Students who pursue this degree are required to complete the academic core requirements, as well as advanced credit that is complementary to the vocational-technical or professional area.

The extended campus Criminal Justice program is a prescribed curriculum. Seated classes are offered one night per week, and some classes are offered in an online format. Students take four courses each semester with no Lees-McRae College summer classes. Depending on transfer credit, it is possible to complete the curriculum in two years.

The Criminal Justice Discipline

The Lees-McRae College Extended Campus Criminal Justice curriculum prepares the student for leadership in careers and promotion in the criminal, investigative and juvenile justice systems. Graduates of the program work in law enforcement and investigative agencies at the local, state, and federal levels.

Why study Criminal Justice at Lees-McRae College?

Many criminal justice professionals with an associates degree find that they have sufficient experience for career advancement, but lack the educational requirements for promotion or management positions. For these professionals, completion of a Baccalaureate degree is the logical progression. However, adult students with career experience have unique needs that make pursuing a traditional main campus baccalaureate degree an unsatisfactory experience that offers little personal enrichment. The extended campus criminal justice program is designed for adult learners who already exhibit responsibility and professionalism, and want to advance their career options and enrich their personal lives through the completion of a Baccalaureate degree.
