The Athletic Training Education Program at Lees-McRae College is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE) and provides ample opportunities for classroom and field experience learning. All athletic training students have opportunities to work closely with BOC Certified Athletic Trainers, 17 athletic teams and over 300 Bobcat student athletes, regional medical facilities and local ski resorts. LMC facilities include the Williams Athletic Training Clinic, Athletic Training Lab, Athletic Training Weight Room and the Rhea-Lyons Indoor Pool. Students who complete this program graduate with over 700 hours of clinical experience.

Certified Athletic Trainers work with physicians and other allied health care professionals to provide care for the physically active in secondary schools, colleges and universities, professional sports, and sports medicine clinics. The Certified Athletic Trainer possesses skills and knowledge in the areas of injury prevention, assessment and evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation, administration, education, and counseling.
