The Athletic Training Major at Lees-McRae College provides students with the appropriate coursework and clinical experiences necessary to prepare them for a career in the field of athletic training. With a firm foundation in the sciences, the program provides students with a background that affords them a number of options following graduation.
The Lees-McRae College community provides an environment that is perfect for the study of Athletic Training. The College is student-centered and provides ample opportunities for classroom and field-experience learning. At Lees-McRae College, all athletic training students have opportunities to work closely with four BOC Certified Athletic Trainers (ATC's). Whether in the classroom, laboratory, or in the field, ATC's are available for instruction and supervision. Athletic Training majors work with Lees-McRae's intercollegiate athletic teams as well as local high school athletes.
The Athletic Training Major is housed in the School of Professional Studies. The “scientific focus” of the program ensures that students in the major have a thorough understanding of how scientific principles are utilized in the modern world especially as they relate to human health issues. Students have classes in a state-of-the-art classrooms and in the Athletic Training laboratory. They also have hands-on experiences with up-to-date equipment in the Athletic Training Clinic.
