TEAC LogoThe Lees-McRae College Theatre Arts Education (K-12) program provides students with the knowledge, skills, and certification necessary to be outstanding drama teachers. The program also promotes a positive and holistic understanding of the teaching profession within a reflective practitioner framework. . Accredited by the Teacher Education Accreditation Council (TEAC) and North Carolina State Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI), courses are aligned with the North Carolina Professional Teaching Standards and North Carolina Specialty Areas Standards for Theatre Arts Education so that students fulfill the requirements for state licensure upon graduation. The student interested in earning teacher licensure in the Program must gain admission to the Teacher Education Program. As soon as a student develops an interest in an Education program of study, he or she should contact the Teacher Education Division Chair, complete an Interest Form, and learn about the specialized requirements and timing for beginning the program.

The Lees-McRae College Teacher Education Program, which is designed to provide teacher candidates the knowledge, skills, and dispositions needed for successful employment as schoolteachers in the 21st Century classroom, is accredited by the Teacher Education Accreditation Council (TEAC) for a period of five (5) years, from June 24, 2013 - June 24, 2017.
