Tuition Guarantee Program

Beginning with the 2016-2017 academic year, all full-time main campus students will receive the Lees-McRae tuition guarantee, which is designed to demonstrate our commitment to affordability and help students and families plan and budget for their years at Lees-McRae College.

Who is eligible for the program?

Both in- and out-of-state students entering our main campus in fall 2016 are eligible. A student's classification at the time of entry determines the length of the tuition guarantee.

Students will have the same tuition rate as the year they first enroll. For example, students entering in fall 2016 will carry the 2016-2017 tuition rate through their time at Lees-McRae (within the guidelines specified above).

Both domestic and international students are eligible.

Current main campus students will be eligible for the program at the 2016-2017 tuition rate. Beginning in fall 2016, current students will be guaranteed the same tuition rate using the guidelines above. For example, if a student is a junior in fall 2016, they will pay the 2016-2017 tuition rate and keep this rate for three years beyond fall 2016.

Extended campus and online learning students already have a tuition guarantee in place. Students entering in fall 2016 will be charged the same tuition rate for both years of the degree completion programs. 

When does the guarantee start?

The guarantee will begin with entering fall 2016 students and apply to all full-time main campus students, new and returning.

Will the guarantee affect the amount of financial aid a student receives?

No, Lees-McRae will continue to offer the same generous scholarship and financial aid packages as it has in the past.

Are all costs guaranteed?

While the guarantee freezes the cost of tuition, which accounts for approximately 70 percent of college costs for a residential student, it does not freeze every single expense. For example, housing, meals and fees may fluctuate over the course of enrollment.

Can a student ever lose the guarantee?

If a student transfers out of Lees-McRae, the guarantee ends. Tuition for a re-enrolling student will be at the current, new student rate for the year of re-enrollment.

Similarly, if a student withdraws from Lees-McRae or does not enroll as a full-time student in consecutive fall and spring semesters for any reason other than military service, medical leave or other College-approved reasons, the guarantee will end.

What if a student withdraws and is then readmitted to Lees-McRae?

If a student withdraws for any reason, other than for military service, medical leave or other College-approved reason, they will not be granted an extension of the guarantee. The student will re-enroll at the current tuition rate for new entering students.

Are part-time students eligible for the guarantee?

Part-time students are not eligible for the guarantee as they pay a per credit hour fee set each academic year.
