Getting Ready - Spring 2013

Congratulations on your admission to Lees-McRae College! The following information will clearly guide you through the next steps in the enrollment process:

  1. Submit your financial aid package documentation if you have not done so already.
  2. Submit your Resident Information Form.
  3. Submit your Health and Immunization Form.
  4. Mark your calendars for move-in on Sunday, January 13 at 1:00pm.
  5. Advising, Registration and Orientation will take place on Monday, January 14. (Click here for schedule)
  6. Classes begin on Wednesday, January 16.

Resident Information Form

Lees-McRae College is a residential campus, offering a variety of living options. By paying your enrollment deposit, you’ve also covered your housing deposit. Your next step is to complete the Resident Information Form to reserve your room. Be honest when answering these questions. We do our best to ensure comfortable living arrangements and positive roommate experiences by taking your preferences into consideration. Health and Immunization Form

To be compliant with the State of North Carolina immunization laws, all students must complete the Health and Immunization Form before matriculating.

Move-In

Incoming students may begin moving in on Sunday, January 13 at 1:00pm. Students should check in at the Cannon Student Center located in the center of campus off of Hwy. 194. Parking is available directly in front of the building.

We encourage students to bring a computer, but do not require students to have a laptop. LMC offers several computer labs across campus for student use. Students who do not bring computers do not need to bring any additional software. Software updates will be provided to students during orientation. Q. Do I need to bring a computer? If so, what type of software do I need?
A. While we do encourage students to bring a computer, we do not require students to have a laptop. Lees-McRae offers several computer labs across campus available for student use. Students who do bring computers do not need to bring any additional software. Software updates will be provided to students during Freshman Orientation. Q. When will I be assigned a Lees-McRae College e-mail account?
A. You will be assigned a Lees-McRae e-mail account during Freshman Advising and Registration.

Q. Am I required to attend Summer Advising and Registration?
A. Yes, students are required to attend one of the listed Summer Advising and Registration sessions. During Advising and Registration, you will meet your faculty advisor, participate in placement testing, and register for fall classes. If you have an extreme conflict with all Advising and Registration dates, please contact your admissions counselor.

Q. How will I know what classes I will be taking?
A. During Summer Advising and Registration, you will participate in placement testing, which will determine the Math and English classes you will be taking at Lees-McRae. You will also work with a faculty advisor to register for your spring 2013 classes.

Q. When will I know my housing and roommate assignment?
A. Be sure to submit your Resident Information Form as soon as possible to guarantee your priority in housing. Your housing assignment packet will be mailed in mid July. This packet will include your residence hall information and the contact information for your roommate.

Q. Will I be able to receive mail on campus?
A. Yes, you will be assigned a Campus P.O. Box during freshman orientation, and you will be able to keep this box for the duration of your time as a Lees-McRae student.

Q. When do I need to arrive on campus for check-in and orientation?
A. Orientation begins on Sunday, January 13, 2013. Check-in will begin at 1:00 p.m. in Cannon Student Center. Official Spring 2013 Orientation schedules will be mailed at a later date.

Q. Can I bring a car?
A. Students are allowed to register vehicles on campus during orientation for an annual fee of $125. All student parking is safe and on campus.

Q. Can I bring a pet?
A. Pets are not allowed in freshman housing; however, students can register for pet-friendly housing as sophomores.

Q. Is campus safe?
A. Yes, the Lees-McRae campus is monitored 24/7 by our security team. Students may contact Campus Security at any time for assistance.

Q. What type of health services are available?
A. A registered nurse is available on campus daily Monday-Friday. There is no charge for a visit, and the nurse will assist in obtaining a doctor’s appointment if needed. A doctor is on campus 8 hours per week. Two hospitals, Cannon Jr. Memorial Hospital and Watauga Medical Center, are located nearby, and Banner Elk offers two convenient pharmacies.
