Message from the Alumni Board President
It is with pride, honor and personal joy to serve LMC and the Alumni Association as your President. It is such a pleasure to be in leadership with an Alumni Board that is well organized, equipped with the most dedicated and committed alumni who are active, engaged and effectively working together for the advancement of Less-McRae College.
As president, my primary role is to keep a close relationship with the Board Members and help the Alumni Association engage in activities that promote growth and strengthen the College. I am committed to maintaining the established partnership with the College and the development of innovative services that meet the needs of our global students, increase engagement and the overall level of commitment to the College and its continued success.
Many changes have been occurring on campus over the past five years, and what’s happening at Lees-McRae is nothing short of extraordinary. Our fearless and faithful leader, Dr. Barry Buxton and his team, have worked diligently to beautify campus, put a huge dent in deferred maintenance issues on our historic buildings, helping to preserve our heritage without using money from the school’s operating budget. He has renovated residence halls, classrooms and major facilities while strengthening Lees-McRae’s finances. In that time, over $6 million has been paid on the College’s long term debt. Extraordinary! I encourage you to visit campus, call me, become a class agent, or mentor a current student.
I would like to challenge you to elevate your level of engagement. Make a gift in an amount comfortable to your budget every year to The Fund for Lees-McRae. Host an event in your city, participate in Homecoming, ESCAPE or go to an athletic event. There are so many ways to participate in the Alumni Association.
Commencement 2015 is soon approaching and I’ll have the honor of watching my son become a graduate of LMC. It will be one of the proudest moments of my life as Brandon Meade continues the Meade legacy at my beloved alma mater.
