The excitement of Homecoming weekend is still with me. Friends, former classmates,
reunions, snow, sleet, cold wind… a time to be merry and it wasn’t even Christmas! And there were even Dean Stonesifer and Dean Kellar sightings– I almost fainted when I saw Stonesifer. I’m glad he didn’t really remember me well because if he did, I’d probably be back on academic probation! Dean Kellar is the reason most of us stayed on campus on the weekends… I thank him often for looking after us so well.
I love Homecoming because it brings back so many great memories of being an LMC student. The dance, the parties, the parade, the game, eating outdoors in crazy weather… the weekend has always been fun. Thanks everyone for being back on campus. It was great for The Alumni House to be used as a gathering place. Dorothy was right. There’s no place like home.
Lees-McRae Homecoming has always been special to me! I love the gatherings (especially at The Alumni House)! It was great reconnecting with classmates and meeting some new friends. For those of us who don’t live in the mountains, it is also a joy to come back and see the campus updates and the wonderful things that will never change! I travel from Greenville, SC, and my commute brings me up Linville Mountain. On my journey up the mountain, my chest becomes tight and tears swell up in my eyes. It is a reminder to me that I only have 20 minutes, and I will be HOME!
