Reserving Your Current Room

NOTE: This option does not apply to students living on 2nd, 3rd & 4th floor of Avery, 1st floor of Tate, Bentley, Villages, Houses, Apartments, and Virginia. Only individuals who live on 1st floor Avery, Tate 2–4th floors, Baldwin, Honors Cottage, McMillan, and Tennessee may reserve their current room for next year.

Students must reserve all rooms with an intended roommate (if not living in a single room). Due to space limitations, private (double) rooms will not be offered for the Fall 2018 semester. There are no exceptions.

Eligible individuals (please see above) may see Ms. Denise Dyer in SDO on Monday, March 19 or Tuesday, March 20 from 9–11 a.m. and 2–4 p.m. to reserve their current room. If you choose to reserve your current room, you will not be able to attend the lottery to reserve a different room. Roommate(s) must be together to reserve.

Honors Cottage Reservations

Depending on availability, room reservations for Honors students in the Honors Cottage will occur on Wednesday, March 21 from 9–11 a.m. and 2–4 p.m. Please see Denise Dyer in the Student Development Office at this time. This will be on a first come, first serve basis.

House, Apartment and Village Applications

Houses, Apartments, and Villages will be reserved by an application process. Rising sophomores, juniors, and seniors may apply for the Villages. Only Seniors and juniors will be allowed to live in Houses and Apartments for the Fall 2018 semester. Factors taken into consideration include number of students already living in these locations who are re-applying, number of completed hours, cumulative GPA, and student conduct status. Due to popular demand of these areas, applications are not guaranteed. If applying for more than one area, we will be in touch to discuss your preference.

Applications can be printed below or can be picked up in the Student Development Office. Application deadline for these areas is Tuesday, March 27, and notifications will be sent out Wednesday, April 4.

Pet Application Process

Students may apply to bring their pets by submitting the online pet registration form to Denise Dyer by Tuesday, March 27. Students currently with a pet who wish to bring the same pet next year must provide updated shot records. Students reapplying for their emotional support animal (ESA) must make an appointment with Karen Robertson, Coordinator of Disability Services, to review if an ESA continues to be appropriate for the coming academic year. Pet notifications will be sent out on Wednesday, April 4.

Housing Lottery (for all other room selections)

If you are not reserving (or were not eligible to reserve) your current location and were not selected for a pet-friendly space, Apartment, House, or Village, all other room reservations will take place at the housing lottery in Evans Auditorium on Monday, April 9.

Housing Lottery Process

Once you have paid your $50 deposit, you will be sent an email giving you your lottery number and your class status. Please note that your class status is based on what Academic Affairs has for you. The lottery numbers are randomly generated by the computer. If you have not reserved your current room, you will attend the lottery at your class status time.

Seniors and rising seniors begin at 6 p.m., rising juniors begin at 6:30 p.m., and rising sophomores begin at 7 p.m.

We will start at number 1. When your number is called, you can then make your room assignment. Please know that if your number is called and you are not present, we have to proceed with the next number. Please make sure your intended roommate is present as well. All individuals must have a roommate in order to reserve a room. If you are unable to attend the lottery, please see Denise Dyer ASAP for an absentee form. Please make sure that you come to the lottery with more than one option just in case your first option is not available.

Off-Campus Housing

The policy for campus housing is stated in the Lees-McRae Student Handbook and the Lees-McRae College Catalog.
Only students who meet at least one of the criteria are eligible to live off campus. The following form must be completed and approved before moving off campus. The deadline to apply for off-campus housing is Thursday, March 1. You must reapply each year.
