Housing Lottery

How the Lottery Will Work

Once you have paid your $50 deposit, you will receive an email containing your lottery number and your class status. Please note that your class status is based on what Academic Affairs lists for you. The lottery numbers are randomly generated by the computer. If you have not reserved your current room or received an apartment or house assignment, you will attend the lottery at your class status time (date and time listed above).

The lottery will start with number 1. When your number is called, you can then make your room assignment. Please know that if your number is called and you are not there, we have to proceed with the next number. Please make sure your roommate(s) are present also.

If you are unable to attend the lottery, please see Denise Dyer, manager of housing, as soon as possible for an absentee form. Please make sure that you come to the lottery with more than one option in case your first option is not available.


Room Reservation Fee
ALL students must pay a non-refundable $50 room reservation fee and complete a housing agreement form before participating in the housing selection process. This deposit will be applied toward Fall 2017 fees and is not an extra charge. You will not be able to pay during the lottery. Deadline to pay room reservation fee is 3 p.m. on Thursday, April 6.

Roommates and Reservations

Students must reserve a room with a roommate (if not living in a single room). Private (double rooms) will not be offered for the Fall 2017 semester (no exceptions).

Reserving Current Room
You can reserve your current room from Monday, March 20 - Tuesday, March 21 from 9 - 11 a.m. and 2 - 4 p.m. ONLY (see Denise Dyer, manager of housing). If you choose to reserve your current room, you cannot attend the lottery to reserve a different room. Roommate(s) must be together to reserve.

Houses and Apartments
Only seniors and juniors will be allowed to live in houses and apartments. Houses and apartments will be reserved by application process. Applications can be picked up in the Student Development Office. The deadline to turn applications in is Tuesday, March 28.

Off-Campus Housing

The policy for campus housing is stated in the Lees-McRae Student Handbook and the Lees-McRae College Catalog.
Only students who meet at least one of the criteria are eligible to live off campus. The following form must be completed and approved before moving off campus. The deadline to apply for off-campus housing is Thursday, March 2.

Housing Deposits

The housing deposit for new students is included in your enrollment deposit. Returning students can make housing deposits via our electronic system by MasterCard, Visa, Discover, American Express or E-check.

Deadline to pay room reservation fee is 3 p.m. on Thursday, April 6.
