Scholarly and Professional Achievements

In addition to my teaching responsibilities, I am a faith community nurse in Yancey County. I have received my national certification as a Nurse Educator and plan to work on my board certification as a Faith Community Nurse in the coming two years. My research focus is on transitional care from acute care back to community; I am interested in the design of clinical systems that support the safe return of clients to prevent emergency department and hospital visits and re-admissions. In addition to my interest in transitional care, I have an additional interest in nurses developing skills in project management to implement evidence-based practice within their working environments.  

Institutional Service and Responsibilities

I serve as the Assistant Dean of Nursing and Health Sciences. I am the faculty champion for ATI Testing, Examsoft, and NSST Software used in the May School of Nursing and Health Sciences. I am also the faculty lead on global experiential learning opportunities for the pre-licensure program.  

Personal Interests

I am passionate about community nursing and nursing education. I am honored to be facilitating the learning of students within the May School of Nursing and Health Sciences and look forward to working with all students interested in health care.
