Scholarly and Professional Achievements

Throughout my career, I have focused research and leadership strategies on facilitating critical thinking and interprofessional competencies across healthcare disciplines. I have published numerous peer-reviewed manuscripts and textbooks, have a trademarked assessment tool for practice, research, and leadership and have presented at several national and international conferences. My particular area of interest is the use of high-fidelity human simulation in the measurement of critical thinking. I currently serve as a Board Member of the North Carolina League of Nursing. In addition, I am an active member of many professional organizations including the Southern Nursing Research Society, Sigma Theta Tau International, the American Nurses Association, and the American Organization of Nursing Executives.

Institutional Service and Responsibilities

I currently serve as the Dean of Nursing and Health Sciences of the May School of Nursing and Health Sciences at Lees-McRae College. It is an honor to serve in this position as it is my role to provide the visionary and strategic leadership for our diverse programing which includes nursing, emergency medical services and management, and health and wellness science. We are committed to fostering academic, and non-academic activities in an effort to prepare a diverse cadre of health professionals in partnership with the local healthcare community. I am an active member of faculty senate and the curriculum committee. I have also had the privilege of working on the Lees-McRae strategic planning taskforce.
