Scholarly and Professional Achievements

I have always loved the outdoors and have continued to pursue certifications in many Outdoor Adventure related areas. These include Wilderness First Responder certification with the Wilderness Medical Institute, Professional Climbing Instructor Association training and certifications including Base Managed Climbing Instructor and Climbing Wall Instructor certifications, as well as adaptive skiing and adaptive rock climbing training and certifications through the Professional Ski Instructors Association.

Institutional Service and Responsibilities

I love both indoor and outdoor rock climbing and, in addition to instructing two rock climbing classes, I volunteer my time to provide additional rock climbing skills training at the Lees-McRae College indoor climbing wall for students. For the past two years I have volunteered with Student Development and the Lees-McRae Climbing Team to help them host the annual REEL ROCK Film Tour at Lees-McRae College.

Personal Interests

I am also the Regional Director for Catalyst Sports for the Boone and Charlotte Chapters. Catalyst Sports is a non-profit organization based out of the Atlanta, GA area that provides outdoor adventure activities, including rock climbing and adaptive snow skiing, for people with physical disabilities. I also love trail running and hiking, camping, cross-country skiing, and telemark skiing at local ski resorts.
