I.
Name
The name of the organization shall be the “Lees-McRae College Staff Association”.
II.
Objective
The primary objective of the Lees-McRae College Staff Association shall be to serve as a means of communicating concerns and general information between Staff and the President’s Cabinet, as well as enhancing communication and interaction among various departments.
III. Membership
and Representatives
Membership and attendance at meetings are open to all
Representatives are responsible for attending each monthly meeting or for contacting their alternates to attend in the event that they are unable to attend.
Representatives shall provide liaison between the staff in their building/area and the Staff Association.
Representatives will serve a term of two consecutive academic years and are eligible for re-election.
B. Elections
Buildings/areas on campus are divided for the purpose of electing representatives:
Academic Affairs Facility Services
Academic Programs Financial Aid
Admissions IT Department
Advancement Library
Athletics McRae House
Business Affairs Student Services
Educational Talent Search
One representative and one alternate will be elected from each area.
Elections will be held every other year in August.
IV.
Officers
Officers will be elected by majority vote at the first meeting of every other academic year. Officers shall consist of a President, Secretary, and Treasurer acting in each other’s stead should one be absent.
Officers will serve a term of two academic years, and after two years will be eligible for re-election.
If an officer becomes unable to serve, a new officer will be elected at the next meeting.
V.
Committees
Committees and subcommittees may be formed as necessary to carry on work of the Staff Association.
VI.
Meetings
The Lees-McRae College Staff Association shall meet based on the current academic calendar.
The President of the College is invited to attend Staff Association meetings whenever possible; when unable to attend, a representative will present the Cabinet report. The President or a representative will always be scheduled at the beginning of the agenda in order to allow the freedom to return to other duties after presenting the report.
Special meetings will be called by the President of the Staff Association or upon request of the President of the College.
The Secretary will take minutes for distribution to all staff, the College President, and members of the President’s Cabinet.
VII.
Voting
Motions may be passed by the majority of those attending any given meeting.
