Funeral Arrangements for Boating Accident Victims Set

Funeral arrangements have been announced for the three Lees-McRae College students killed Wednesday in a boating accident off of Oak Island, N.C. A prayer service will be held for students on Monday, March 20 at 7 p.m. A public memorial service for all four men, Griff Lylerly, Arch McFadyen, Michael Shoupe and Kevin Bell, will be held later in the week.

Visitation will be held Saturday, March 18 from 5-7 p.m. at Cavin Cook Funeral Home (494 E. Plaza Drive, Mooresville, N.C. 704-664-3363). The funeral will be held Sunday, March 19 at 3 p.m. at First Baptist Church (150 South Church Street, Mooresville). The family has requested that in lieu of flowers send donations to the Banner Elk Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 175, Banner Elk, N.C. 28604.
Archibald “Arch” McFadyen

Visitation will be held Saturday, March 18 from 6-8 p.m. at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home (831 Wake Forest Road, Raleigh 919-832-8225). The funeral will be held Sunday, March 19 at 2:30 p.m. at Greystone Baptist Church (7509 Leadmine Road 919-847-1383) with the burial following at 3:30 at Raleigh Memorial Gardens. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers send donations to the Lees-McRae College Ski Club (memo: in memory of Arch), P.O. Box 128, Banner Elk, N.C. 28604.
Michael Shope

Visitation will be held Sunday, March 19 from 5-7 p.m. at Mitchell Funeral Home (7209 Glenwood Avenue, Raleigh 919-783-7128). The funeral will be held Monday, March 20 at 1 p.m. at Providence Baptist Church (6339 Glenwood Aveneue, Raleigh) with the burial following at Raleigh Memorial Park. The family has asked that in lieu of flowers donations be made to Duke Children’s Hospital ( Alumni & Development Records, Duke University, Box 90581, Durham, NC 27708-0581) or the Banner Elk Volunteer Fire Department (P.O. Box 175, Banner Elk, N.C. 28604).
