A $1 million pledge from Lees-McRae College trustee James G. McMillan and his wife Nancy will support various campus revitalization projects over the next four years. The first priority identified is the renovation of McAllister residence hall during the upcoming year.
“The generosity of the McMillans is a testament to the dedication and commitment of Lees-McRae’s Board of Trustees,” said College President David W. Bushman. “We look forward to the improvements to our campus that this gift will make possible. I am excited about the lasting impact of this gift on our current and future students.”
The McMillans are originally from Fairborn, Ohio. Mr. McMillan earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from The Ohio State University and served in the U.S. Air Force. As a successful businessman in the publishing industry, his extensive career included serving as the former president of the Miami Valley Publishing Company and publisher of the Fairborn Daily Herald.
“We are delighted to make this pledge in support of Lees-McRae College,” said Trustee Jim McMillan. “My wife and I have a long history with the College and the area. As a trustee and a philanthropist, this is my way of paying forward what has been done for me.”
