Where
is Lees-McRae College?
Our campus is nestled in the stunning Blue Ridge
Mountains of Western North Carolina, in the Village of Banner Elk.
Lees-McRae boasts the highest elevation of any college campus East
of the Mississippi River (4000 feet above sea-level). This resort
town is located in the shadows of
Beech Mountain,
Sugar Mountain,
and Grandfather
Mountain, thus keeping outdoor enthusiasts of all types
entertained all year round.
Other attractions such as Linville Caverns, Linville Falls, the Blue
Ridge Parkway, and Wiseman's View, (the best vantage point to see
the mysterious Brown Mountain lights) remain popular with our
students, faculty and staff. Even the famed Appalachian Trail passes
a few miles from our campus.
While this description is a good introduction to the sights, sounds
and surroundings of Lees-McRae life, there are many more aspects
that can not be discovered until you experience it firsthand. We
encourage you to schedule a
privately guided tour
to learn more about the college, as well as meet the people that
call Lees-McRae their home.
Our
Visitor's Information page also provides directions and other
useful information.
