Special Notice: Legislative Change to Sales Tax on Meals
The North Carolina Tax Simplification and Reduction Act (Session Law 2013-316) was passed on August 23, 2013 and determined that sales of prepared food and foods served to students are now subject to tax.
Due to this legislative change, the sales price of student meal plans for spring 2014 have been increased in order to accommodate sales tax due. The All Access Meal Plan will increase by $80, and the 125 Block Meal Plan will increase by $60. These increases are reflected on the spring billing statement.
