Creating Your Video

a. Get creative and share your elevator pitch!

b. Consider working within a creative limit, such as not showing your face or using only written text. Try to avoid simply recording yourself talking; instead, show us what makes you unique!

c. Do your research! Go online and look at some examples of video essays. Which ones are your favorites? What did they say to you? What made them stand out? Which ones did you NOT like? What mistakes do you want to avoid?

d. Your video can be as short as you want to make it, but there is a one minute maximum length for your submission.

e. The video must be your own work. You cannot hire a professional to film or produce your video (checking out equipment from your school and recruiting your friends to help is fine).

f. Videos will not be accepted or eligible if they include obscene material, drug or alcohol use, nudity, profanity, derogatory comments or information, or any other conduct, language or context deemed inappropriate by the selection committee.

g. All federal copyright regulations should be followed when using third-party audio or image files.

Scholarship

a. The Video Essay Scholarship winner will receive a $2,000 annual scholarship that is renewable for up to four years as long as the student maintains a 2.5 cumulative GPA.
