Position Summary:
The Vice President will report
directly to the President and will serve as a member of the
President’s Cabinet. Dr.
Barry M. Buxton will become the 15th President of
Lees-McRae on June 1, 2010 after a successful decade as Vice
President for Special Projects at the Savannah College of Art and
Design. Working closely with the President, the Vice President will
cultivate relationships with alumni, foundation officers, corporate
executives, parents and families, volunteers, donors and prospects.
The Vice President will oversee all development, advancement and
alumni relations services and activities and will provide strategic
leadership for the College’s plans for resource development, capital
campaigns and other fund-raising priorities.
The development role includes major gift solicitation, annual
giving, gift planning, athletic related fund-raising, church
relations, foundation and corporate relations; advancement services
includes donor relations, research, gift processing and financial
reporting; alumni relations includes constituency groups,
gatherings, reunions and programming.
Requirements:
This position requires an experienced advancement
professional with substantial relevant leadership and management
experience, preferably in higher education; a broad vision and
command of the development field and best practices; strong
interpersonal skills to effectively interact with diverse
constituencies; excellent written and oral communication and an
appreciation for and understanding of working in a mission-focused
environment. Bachelor’s degree required.

Position:
Lees-McRae College invites applications for a full-time assistant
professor or instructor of Philosophy, beginning in August 2010.
The College is seeking a
caring, energetic, and highly motivated individual with traits such
as a sense of humor, a commitment to a liberal arts education,

Qualifications:
Potential candidates must possess a doctorate in Philosophy, though
master’s or ABD candidates will be considered for an instructor’s
position. Teaching duties
may include introductory courses in philosophy and ethics, as well
as courses such as Logic, Social and Political Philosophy,
Environmental Ethics, and Environmental Philosophy to support a
minor in philosophy.
Other responsibilities include scholarship, professional

Position: The Business Administration Program at Lees-McRae College, Banner Elk, North Carolina, is seeking to fill the Division Chair and faculty position in Management and Small Business Development for the 2010-2011 academic year. The position is at the Assistant Professor or Associate Professor level (depending on qualifications).
Qualifications: Potential candidates must possess a Masters (required) or Ph.D. (preferred) degree in the field of Business with emphasis in Management and/or Small Business Development. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to teach courses in the following areas: principles of management, organizational behavior, human resources and entrepreneurship at the undergraduate level. Other responsibilities include advising of students, as well as committee and public service. Special emphasis will be placed on academic and work experience in the area of study. Assistant Biology Professor
The Department of Biology at Lees-McRae College has a full-time, permanent teaching faculty position for an assistant professor of Biology, beginning in August 2010.
Job description: Teaching duties include microbiology, cell biology, molecular biology, and introductory courses, with the opportunity to design additional upper division courses to augment offerings in the pre-professional biology program that complement current expertise in A&P and Veterinary medicine. Faculty-advised undergraduate research is required of all majors, and preference will be given to candidates with a desire to conduct faculty/student research projects. Other responsibilities include serving as Coordinator of the Pre-Professional Biology Program and advising program majors, scholarship, and service to the College and profession. The annual contract covers 9 months, with the summer months off for professional or personal development. Preference will be given to candidates with an interest in service learning and interdisciplinary curricula.

Associate Dean of Students
Position
Description:
The Associate Dean of Students is
a full-time, 12 month administrator in the Office of Student
Development. The
Associate Dean of Students is the primary administrator and educator
of Residence Life, Judicial Affairs, and Summer Conferencing.
Responsibilities:

Assist in
the supervision of the Student Development Staff
·
Provide a
safe living and learning environment in the Residence Halls
·
Train,
develop and directly supervise the Director of Housing, Residence
Life Staff and Summer Conferencing Staff
·
Oversee and
manage the Residence Life and Summer Conferencing budgets
·
Keep the
lines of communication open between facility services, housekeeping,
and campus security
·
Oversee the
judicial process; which includes reading reports, routing cases,
organizing the student conduct board, hearing cases, and sanction
follow up

Teach the
Residence Life Leadership Course
·
Serve on
Campus Committees
·
Assist the
Dean of Students as needed, or requested
Qualifications:

related field of study

Director of Student Financial Services
Lees-McRae College seeks a self-motivated,
organized, detail and customer-oriented individual for the position
of Director of Student Financial Services.
This position is responsible for all student accounts
receivable functions including daily oversight of cashiering
functions and working closely with students and families. Duties
include setup of tuition and fee charge tables, billing, collection
of tuition and fees, reconciliation and posting of all cash
receipts, invoices, and financial aid transfers, federal Title IV
financial aid cash management, assisting with requirements for
annual independent audit, and generation of annual 1098T forms and
IRS reporting.
Qualifications include two or more years of accounts receivable
experience, excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office
applications, and strong communication and interpersonal skills.
A Bachelors degree is preferred, but not required.
