Global Partnerships
Today’s global society demands citizens who comprehend the complexity of issues facing a changing world. While a liberal arts education prepares students to think expansively and to make connections across disciplines, perhaps nothing compliments this experience more than study and travel abroad. A well organized international study program immerses students in a culture different from their own while also illuminating the interdependence of scientific, historical, geographical, cultural, political, economic and religious contexts. These experiences produce citizens with a more nuanced and sophisticated view of the world and a growing understanding of the interrelationship of all people’s and nations.
To this end, Global Partnerships offer Lees-McRae students the opportunity to travel abroad on short-term, service-learning trips. In recent years, our students have traveled to India, Ireland, Mexico, Guatemala and New Zealand. Several of these trips have been repeated multiple times. More are being added each year.
