Housing Selection Process

The information below is for returning Lees-McRae students. Incoming students will receive information regarding housing from the Office of Admission. 

Housing Deposit

A non-refundable deposit of $50 is required to secure a residence hall room for the Fall 2020 semester. This deposit will be applied toward Fall 2020 fees and is not an extra charge. Housing deposits must be paid by Friday, March 20 at 12 p.m. All students must pay the $50 deposit before reserving a room.

Housing Selection for Fall 2020 (Returning Students Only)

To accommodate students while classes are canceled, housing selection for Fall 2020 is now in an online format.

In order to be eligible to reserve your current room or select a new room, you will need to first pay your $50 housing deposit. The deposit can be paid here. Once your deposit is received, you will be sent an email with your lottery number.

Returning students wanting to keep their current room:
Please complete this form. Please note that you will be unable to live in your current space next year if you live in Virginia Hall, Avery Hall 3rd and 4th floors, Bentley Hall 1st floor, Village 3 (107-110), House 160, House 248, or House 290. This form is due no later than 12 p.m. on Friday, March 20.

Returning students wanting to select a new room:
Please complete this form no later than 12 p.m. on Friday, March 20.

 

Frequently Asked Questions

    If I want to reserve my current room, do I still need a lottery number to reserve it?

    No! Fill out the “Reserving Current Room” form linked above. Once your deposit has been received and you have completed the form, you will get a confirmation email that you have been assigned for Fall 2020.

    If I want a new room and I fill out the “New Room Selection” form, how do you decide which room I get?

    We will start with the person with the lowest lottery number and work down the list. We will try our best to get as close as we can to the room type and building location that you would like. You will be asked on the form to give several options so that we can best match your assignment to what you prefer.

    How are lottery numbers determined?

    Lottery numbers are based on your class standing and your GPA.

  •  

    I live in Virginia Hall now and want to stay there. Can I?

    Unfortunately, you will be unable to stay in Virginia Hall next year. It will be a first-year resident hall, as will Avery 3rd and 4th floors, and Bentley 1st floor. Please see the list above of places that will be unavailable to reserve for next year.

    Can I reserve a private room (a room meant for two people, but you are paying extra to keep the room to yourself)?

    At this time, we cannot accommodate private rooms. If space becomes available, we will open the option for private rooms after housing selection is over.

  •  

    I am struggling to find a roommate to go with me to a new room. What do I do?

    If you do not have a roommate, go ahead and fill out the form, typing “N/A” where it asks for a roommate name. Please know that you will then be placed with another student as a roommate who you might not know.

Off Campus Housing

The policy for campus housing is stated in the Lees-McRae Student Handbook. Only students who meet at least one of the criteria are eligible to live off campus. The following form must be completed and approved before moving off campus. The deadline to apply for off campus housing is Wednesday, March 18 and notifications will be sent out on Friday, March 20. You must reapply each year.
