Housing Selection Process

The information below is for returning Lees-McRae students. Incoming students will receive information regarding housing from the Office of Admission.

Housing Selection for Fall 2021 (Returning Students Only)

The Fall 2021 housing selection lottery will resume Monday, May 17 and continue through Friday, May 21. Due to recent technical issues with the housing selection lottery, all students will receive new lottery numbers that will activate their selection on a specific day and time.

To accommodate preferences, all students will have the opportunity to meet with Director of Residence Life Erin Smith in a 10-minute one-on-one Zoom meeting to select their housing assignments for the 2021–22 academic year. Once lottery numbers and times have been assigned, students will receive a link to their Zoom meeting with Erin, which will take place during their selection time.

All students MUST resubmit their housing preferences through the Housing Selection Form by Sunday, May 16. Selections are not guaranteed based on submissions. Erin will review form submissions prior to one-on-one meetings and discuss preferences with students during their selection time.

Housing Selection Form

Students who are unable to meet during their assigned time are advised to check their housing selection form for accuracy as staff will make housing decisions based on those submissions.

After housing selection meetings, follow-up emails will be sent to all students confirming their 2021–22 housing placements. Students must reply within 24 hours acknowledging their housing placements for selection to be finalized.

With questions, contact Erin Smith. Thank you for your patience through this process!

Frequently Asked Questions

  •

What is the process for selecting a new room?

Students will have a list of available rooms to choose from. When their lottery number is active, students will proceed with their selection based on available spaces.

  •

    How are lottery numbers determined?

Lottery numbers are randomized within class status, beginning with rising seniors having priority numbers.

  •

Can I reserve a private room (a room meant for two people, but you are paying extra to keep the room to yourself)?

At this time, we cannot reserve private rooms. If space becomes available, we will open the option for private rooms after housing selection is completed.

  •

I am struggling to find a roommate to go with me to a new room. What do I do?

If you are struggling to find a roommate, please reach out to Director of Residence Life Erin Smith at smithe@lmc.edu. The lottery process will require spaces be filled to capacity. A roommate may be assigned if one is not previously selected.

  •
