Scholarly and Professional Achievements

I have served in increasing roles of responsibility in acute care with the privilege of working with dedicated clinical and managerial nurses. I am passionate about promoting professional practice models, such as shared governance, with the outcome of engaged and empowered nurses providing patient-centered care. I am especially interested in the influence of authentic nursing leaders on the work environment for clinical nurses. My clinical background is in medical-surgical and behavioral health in acute and outpatient settings. I have served as the president for the North Carolina Organization of Nurse Executives, and held other leadership positions on community boards, neighborhood associations, and faith-based committees.

Institutional Service and Responsibilities

I currently serve as the Director for the RN-BSN program which includes Regionally Increasing Baccalaureate Nurses (RIBN) and LPN-BSN RIBN students at Lees-McRae College. It is an honor to serve in this position as I am committed to the ongoing development and professional growth of registered nurses. I am an active member of faculty senate and the handbook committee. I also serve on the Lees-McRae strategic and master facilities planning taskforces.

Personal Interests

I am committed to my family and church. My husband and I have two sons and four grandchildren. In my spare time I like read, knit, travel, hike, and watch sports!
