Michael is now finishing his MA in Student Affairs Administration at Appalachian State University with an internship at Lees-McRae College working as an Adjunct Faculty for Outdoor Recreation Management as well a assisting Outdoor Programs as their Graduate Student Intern.

Personal Interests

Michael served just shy of 10 years as a military intelligence paratrooper in the US Army. He had 3 deployments in support of OIF/OEF and two consecutive tours in South Korea. After his service he found outdoor recreation as a passion through outdoor programs at Appalachian State University and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Recreation Management. The Recreation Management Department at Appalachian State University awarded Michael as the Outstanding Graduate, Highest GPA, and received Research Recognition awards. After graduating he went to work for Family Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (FMWR) at Fort Wainwright, Alaska, as an outdoor programmer. Michael took participants all over Alaska and conducted over 150 programs including hiking, backpacking, biking, skiing, fishing, paddle sports, snow machining that accounted for more than 1,500 field hours.

Michael likes to ski, climb, paddle in all sorts of boats, bike, hike, and have cocoa and chill days after a nice ski in the cold.
