Scholarly and Professional Achievements

Throughout his career Oliver has held numerous positions within higher education and community recreation focusing on event management and outdoor recreation programming. His experience in these areas includes, challenge course management, trip planning, summer camp programming, climbing wall management, canoe and kayak instruction, bicycle and triathlon race production, and the planning of festivals and concert events.

Oliver’s professional certifications include: Certified Parks and Recreation Professional; Wilderness First Responder; American Red Cross CPR/First Aid and Wilderness & Remote First Aid Instructor.

Institutional Service and Responsibilities

Oliver serves as the Director of Events and Conferences at Lees-McRae.

Personal Interests

Oliver grew up in North Carolina and fell in love with the High Country at an early age. Having since spent time living in Montana, Oregon, South Carolina and Florida, his love of the North Carolina mountains and the recreational opportunities offered here drew him back to the area and to Lees-McRae. Outside of his work with the college Oliver spends his time cycling, skiing, fly fishing, hiking, and trail running.
