Personal Interests

I have had a long-standing interest in bicycling and advocacy, going back to the ‘80s. I was a long-distance cyclist, having participated in many Brevets from 200km to 600km and the 1200km Paris-Brest-Paris ride. I have participated in organized rides in Florida, such as the Horse Farm Hundred, and others in North Carolina—Bridge to Bridge, Blood Sweat and Gear, Blue Ridge Brutal, and the Bookwalter Binge.

Promoting, supporting, and advocating for better and safer bicycling and pedestrian facilities has always been important to me. I now have the privilege to do that as President of BikeWalkNC. I am able to work with and advocate for bicyclists with lawmakers to make these dreams a reality.

And just as an aside, I once owned and rode a horse in Time and Game Competitions.
