How You Can Help

BRWI does not receive any government funding. We are a 501(c)3 tax-exempt corporation that relies on tax-deductible contributions from individuals like you.

For other ways you can help please visit our "Volunteer and Intern Opportunities" page!

  • $10.00 will provide formula for an orphaned baby bunny during its stay at the Institute

  • $25.00 will send a baby owl to mouse school (live prey training prior to release)

  • $50.00 will provide medical care for a gunshot Red-tailed Hawk.

Adopt an Animal Ambassador Program!

Taking care of wildlife is very expensive, each species has its own unique diet and nutritional needs and requirements. Insectivores require live insects: crickets, meal worms, and wax worms - this is our biggest annual expense, especially when you include rehabilitating animals in the equation. Fruit, vegetables, and nuts are also quite costly and many animals require these in their diets in order to stay healthy.

Our Animal Ambassadors receive four medical check-ups a year to help keep them healthy. One of their check-ups includes a complete physical including blood work and other lab work to insure their health and well being. We take special care of our Animal Ambassadors because many of them assist us as foster parents and teachers in the rehabilitation department, which exposes them to more animals and a potential to get sick if not caught early enough or preventive measures are not taken.

Many of our smaller animals are housed indoors, UV rays from the sun are important to their overall health. To address this need, annually we spend $200 per year to provide special UV Lighting in the clinic.

If you would like to help, you can Adopt an Animal Ambassador! You will receive a photo suitable for framing of the animal you adopt, a 1-year adoption certificate, 10 note cards featuring your adopted ambassador and a thank you note. The adoption fees will go to feed the animal ambassador you select for one year.

If you can not afford to Adopt an Animal Ambassador but still want to help, for $200 you can provide UV Lighting in the clinic for a year and help all of the indoor animals. If you provide lighting we will send you a photo suitable for framing and 10 note cards featuring the Animal Ambassador of your choice, a long with an appreciation certificate and a thank you note.

Or you can provide Medical Treatment for 1 year for the Animal Ambassador of your choice! It costs $50 per year to provide Medical Treatment for each of our Birds of Prey, $35 per year for each of our mammals and our Pileated Woodpecker, and $25 per year for each of our songbirds. You will receive a photo suitable for framing of the Animal Ambassador you wish to Provide Medical Treatment for a year and a thank you note.
