Elementary Education

The Elementary Education program provides candidates with the knowledge, skills, and dispositions necessary to be successful teachers in 21st century classrooms. The program also provides a course of study that promotes a positive and holistic understanding of the teaching profession within a reflective practitioner framework.

"One of the most practical skills I gained in the Lees-McRae education program was that of being a reflective practitioner. Daily reflection, anecdotal observations, and authentic assessment help me adapt my instructional methods to best meet the diverse needs of my students. Daily reflection has prompted me to continue to seek best practice methods and ponder their application in my classroom, as well as to develop a deeper understanding of the curriculum content. The excellent educational foundation that I received at Lees-McRae paved the way for my journey as a life-long learner."
- Cher Wheeler, 5th Grade Teacher & LMC Graduate
