LMC cycling team strategy; racers tasks, jobs, and obligations |
||
| event during race: | LMC response | intended outcome |
| early attack by other team | send one rider to follow, every same team jersey in attack, ex. two Clemson, two LMC. | If attack sticks our two LMC riders will then be guaranteed top finishes, if they can out sprint the other people in the attack they can go for the win |
| early attack by LMC rider | send as many LMC riders into the break without taking the field with | If LMC's break has potential, all other LMC riders are obligated to block and slow pace to increase the chances of the break sticking |
| field sprint | in the last 3 miles begin to block and force other sprinters to the back of the field, set up lead out train for predetermined sprinters | as lead out train approaches the finish, increase speed and deliver the sprinters to the line, it is then up to the sprinters to finish the job |
| attack during race, with no LMC riders near by | If the attack looks strong immediately organize and go to the front of the pack, with the intent to ramp the pace | If enough LMC riders can get to the front and rotate, pull the break back completely or just enough to send a few LMC riders up to bridge into the break |
| counter attack on an LMC break | A LMC rider must respond immediately, and follow the attack | if the attackers persist they will pull an additional LMC rider into the break, if they realize that they are pulling an additional LMC rider into the break they will give up and break will remain safe |
| Counter attack on a competitors break | when the field is maintaining a solid pace and no one seems to be too relaxed, LMC riders will attack in pairs, with the intent to put at least one LMC rider in the break | If both LMC attackers get into the break, LMC will immediately be represented in the break. If only one LMC rider makes it, it is then his job to determine if he can maintain control of the break and stay with it until the finish |
| attack on a climb by competitor | LMC climbers are expected to be near the front of the pack and should respond | if the LMC climbers can maintain attackers pace then they should ride with attackers, if not they should try to stay away from the pack and as close to the attackers as possible |
| LMC attack on climb | it is then up to the remaining riders to block and slow the field as much as possible | if blockers are successful, they will allow sufficient time for the LMC attackers to break free and ride the climb at there best pace |
