FAQ's: Frequently Asked Questions

Transcript Questions

Q:  How long does it take to get a transcript?

A:  Transcript requests received by mail or fax are filled within 24-48 working hours of  receipt.  Requests made in our office (Office of Academic Affairs, Chaffee Building) can usually be processed while you wait..

Q:  What does the term “sealed envelope” mean?

A:  For security reasons, some schools, agencies, or organizations require transcripts to be placed in envelopes that have been sealed and stamped with the College Registrar’s name across the back flap.  Lees-McRae transcripts are placed in sealed envelopes at the student’s request.

Q:  I ordered a transcript but discovered I had a financial hold.  Once I clear up my hold, how long will it be before my transcript is released?

A:  Once the Office of Academic Affairs receives notification from the Business Office, transcripts can usually be released immediately.

Q:  Why is it necessary to include my address and phone number on the transcript request form if I am picking up my transcript rather than having it mailed?

A:  In the event that a question arises during the processing of your transcript request, it is important for us to have up-to-date information to use to contact you. Including this information on your request can prevent unnecessary delays in the processing of your transcript.

Q:  Can I place an order for, or pick up a transcript for someone else?

A:  Because transcripts are confidential documents, only the person to whom they belong can request them. However, students can submit a signed request and indicate in the request that their transcript(s) may be picked up by a designated third party.
