The outcomes of General Education at Lees-McRae College are the following:
The student will understand the importance of responsible, informed, and involved citizenship as it applies to the region, the nation, and the world, and will understand how his or her chosen vocation relates to that role.
The student will be aware of the components of a “whole” person, including intellect, physicality, and spirituality.
The student will understand the basic characteristics of the humanities, the natural sciences, the social sciences, and the creative arts, and will acquire a range of specific knowledge in those areas while understanding the inter-relatedness of the various academic disciplines.
The student will think critically, independently, and collaboratively to solve problems that require both qualitative and quantitative analysis, both creativity and logic.
The student will be able to generate knowledge in a variety of forms from independent research, and will be able to comprehend, apply, analyze, synthesize, and evaluate that knowledge.
The student will be able to use a variety of technologies.
The student will be able to communicate clearly and persuasively.
