Wireless Network
|
Attention Wireless Phone Users |
The campus wireless network was launched in the Fall of 2005, and has been a resounding success. This campus-wide network reaches to all corners of the campus, and even covers the neighboring eateries, Dunn's Deli, Banner Elk Cafe and the Lodge.
Connecting to the Wireless Network
Simply detect and connect to the "lmc" network using your wireless-enabled laptop or desktop computer.
The first time you attempt to connect to the network, you will be prompted whether you want to connect to the "unsecured" network. Click to connect, and next time, your computer will automatically connect without needing you to click anything.
The wireless network is setup to allow students to connect seamlessly to the Internet without any pre-configuration.
Technical Details
The Lees-McRae Wireless Network works for both wireless standard frequencies (802.11b and 802.11g). This means that any wireless-enabled computer (windows, mac or linux, desktop or laptop) will be able to connect to our network.
To Be Added...
We are working on providing a graphical map of our campus to show the hotspots on campus for wireless. However, the network is ubiquitous, meaning that every part of the main campus is covered (inside and outside buildings).
Specific Instructions on Connecting to the network will be added to the knowledge base (use menu link).
