Wireless Network Information
As many of you have noticed, Lees-McRae has implemented a campus wide
indoor/outdoor wireless network.
As of now, the physical installation of this network is complete. What
this means is that you should have campus wide network coverage indoors
and high outdoor coverage. You will also notice that Dunn’s Deli and
Banner Elk Café have been covered with wireless from the college. The
network you will see on your computer (if you have a wireless card) is
“LMC.”
Each node has been checked and should be fully functional. For now, the
access to this network is completely open, meaning that no log-in is
required. In the near future we will be setting up the system so that
you must log in with your college username and password. This will mean
that the first time you try to go to the web you will be prompted to log
in. More details will follow as logins become necessary.
What we need from you:
Please let us know if you are not able to get a signal in your room or in any other academic area. If you do not get a wireless signal anywhere on campus then this is a different matter and you should bring your computer to Tech Services.
If you have
trouble please call tech services at 7228.
