New Zealand

December 10th, 2007, a group of eight wildlife rehabilitation students and two staff members depart on a month-long trip to the north and south islands of New Zealand.  The outcome: wild.

Trip focus: wildlife rehabilitation, community service and environmental theology.

After nearly a year of planning, Nina Fischesser, Director of the Blue Ridge Wildlife Institute, and Robert Black, Director of the Global Community Center, lead the group into a cultural and ecological adventure.  Upon commencing their trip in urban Auckland, the group traveled to various wildlife rehabilitation centers across the country.  Lodging in youth hostels and visiting homes, aside from regular service learning experiences, opened the doors to an overall international experience.
