Residence Life Programming
Education
is more than purely academic knowledge; it should extend beyond the
confines of the classroom. It is therefore the belief of Lees-McRae
College that residence living should play an important role in
encouraging students to develop their potentials, not only as
scholars, but also as social and cultural beings.
Residential programming at LMC is intended to promote interest in,
develop talents for, and meet student's needs in all areas of their
college life. This philosophy allows for the importance of
social-recreational activities, as well as cultural, academic, and
human growth types of programs. The encouragement and development of
talents and skills such as leadership, organization, and competition
should be as rightful a goal of residential programming as its
exposure to intellectual stimuli outside the classroom. Such
development can often be achieved through involvement with the Residence
Hall Association.
While meeting social-recreational needs, it is also the responsibility
of residential programming to provide experiences that can enhance the
college's classroom offerings, providing forums for intellectual
growth.
