The Program The goal of the Teacher Education Program at Lees-McRae College is to provide strong courses of study which promote positive and holistic development of teachers within a reflective practitioner framework. It is expected that students who complete the Teacher Education Program and become licensed teachers will be individuals who have a distinct knowledge about practice and theory of teaching as well as a balanced sense of personal values, integrity, and moral worth. It is also expected that students who complete the program will become teachers who reflect on all aspects of the teaching/learning process and will mentor their own students.

"OQuotesne of the most practical skills I gained in the Lee’s McRae education program was that of being a reflective practitioner.  Daily reflection, anecdotal observations, and authentic assessment help me adapt my instructional methods to best meet the diverse needs of my students.  Daily reflection has prompted me to continue to seek best practice methods and ponder their application in my classroom, as well as to develop a deeper understanding of the curriculum content.  The excellent educational foundation that I received at Lee’s McRae paved the way for my journey as a life-long learner."  LMC Teacher Education Graduate
