“Sister Act” to close out 41st season of Lees-McRae Summer Theatre
“Sister Act,” the musical based on the hit 1992 comedy film starring Whoopi Goldberg, will cap off this year’s season of Lees-McRae Summer Theatre. The production will run Saturday, July 25–Friday, July 31 in Hayes Auditorium.
The show tells the story of Deloris Van Cartier, a woman who, after witnessing a murder, must enter the witness protection program. To shield her identity and avoid the cops she hides in a convent where she begins to befriend the other nuns and eventually helps her sisters find their voices as she rediscovers her own.
“There’s nothing more fun than doing a musical that makes you laugh and lifts the spirit at the same time,” Director of Summer Theatre Janet Speer said. “Sisterhood takes on a whole new meaning in this show, and we'll all have fun watching it redefine itself.”
There will be three matinee performances at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 26; Wednesday, July 29; and Friday, July 31. There will also be three evening performances at 7 p.m. on Friday, July 25; Tuesday, July 28; and Thursday, July 30. Tickets for all performances are on sale now.
