Affinity Groups
What is an Affinity Group?
Affinity Groups bring together alumni for events and other programming who share a common interest, identity, or goal. These groups are less formal than regional chapters, but they provide meaningful opportunities for connection, support, and support, and advocacy among Bobcats with shared backgrounds and experiences.
Types of Affinity Groups
Affinity groups can form around many different connections, including:
- Student Involvement—athletics, clubs, associations, extracurriculars
- Professional/Career Affiliation—wildlife, education, business, and more
- Identity-Based Networks—LGBTQ, Black, Jewish, and other communities
How Do I Start an Affinity Group?
Starting an affinity group is simple. Reach out to the Office of Institutional Advancement, and our alumni relations staff will work with you to explore feasibility and offer support.

The Wildlife Network
Leadership: Savannah Trantham ’07
The Wildlife Network connects alumni who were affiliated with the Wildlife Biology and Rehabilitation majors, the Pre-Veterinary Science major, and anyone who has affinity for the May Wildlife Rehabilitation Clinic or Elk Valley Preserve. The May Wildlife Rehabilitation Clinic and related programs are signature offerings of Lees-McRae. By connecting with the Wildlife Network, alumni can help preserve and grow these distinctive programs for future generations.
