College collaborates with Richmond Community College for 2+2 human services program

In a recent articulation agreement between the two institutions, Richmond Community College human services technology program students will now be able to seamlessly earn their bachelor’s degree online at Lees-McRae College.

The transfer student agreement allows Richmond Community College students who have completed their Associate of Applied Arts degree in human services technology to transfer into the human services program at Lees-McRae and earn their Bachelor of Arts and Applied Science (B.A.A.S.) with ease.

Transferring with 65 to 66 credits fulfills the general education core curriculum in the Lees-McRae online program. Completing the core curriculum allows incoming students to focus on the courses needed for their human services degree.

“Thanks to the outstanding education a student receives at Richmond Community College, we know that students are well-prepared to complete a rigorous undergraduate degree through Lees-McRae College,” Provost and Dean of Faculty Todd Lidh said. “We are proud to partner with Richmond CC and be a part of a student’s journey to a career or to advancement in the human services field.”

Human services-related job growth is expected to be more than 13 percent through 2024, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Jobs in the human services field can be found in mental health, child care, family services, social services, rehabilitation, correction, and educational agencies.

“This career field is vital to a caring and helpful society, and I am glad we can contribute to the preparation of current and future professionals here in North Carolina and beyond,” Lidh added.
