Spring Open House March 17

Lees-McRae will host its spring Open House Saturday, March 17 for students and families interested in learning more about the College. Visitors can explore the College’s 20 majors and 20 minors including the new Outdoor Recreation Management and Health and Wellness Science programs.

Open House begins at 8:30 a.m. and ends at approximately 2 p.m. depending on the afternoon session. Visitors will first gather in Hayes Auditorium to check in before receiving an overview of the day.

The day will cover almost all of campus including academic programs, residence life and other essential facilities. Students and their families will have the opportunity to meet faculty and speak with current students in the programs. Following the campus tour and lunch, visitors can attend the financial aid presentation followed by the student life presentation before attending one of a few afternoon special sessions.

The afternoon sessions will allow visitors to take an in-depth look at the College’s programs. Animal lover? Explore the Wildlife Biology program at the nearby Elk Valley Preserve and Field Station or tour the May Wildlife Rehabilitation Center. Interested in health care? Discover the state-of-the-art May School of Nursing and Health Sciences. Have a passion for theatre? Prospective students can tour the Theatre Arts program facilities and audition for a Theatre Arts scholarship. Learn more about the process here.

Even though Open House will come to a close that afternoon, exploration of the College and the surrounding community doesn’t have to end. Take a walk through downtown Banner Elk and visit one of many locally owned businesses or restaurants. Feeling a little more adventurous? Grab some hiking shoes and find one of several picturesque overlooks.

No matter the reason, Lees-McRae has something for everyone—students and their families alike. Register for Open House on March 17 at lmc.edu/visit.
