Communication Arts and Design juried student art show March 25
High Country artist and award-winning potter Nicolas Schneider will be the guest judge during the Communications Arts and Design juried student art show Monday, March 25.
Taking place in the King-Shivell Gallery, the show and opening reception will begin at 2 p.m. followed by a lecture by Schneider at 2:30 p.m. in Evans Auditorium. The student art show, which will offer drinks and refreshments, is free and open to the public.
During the show, students will present their work for a chance at third, second, and best in show awards.
Schneider, currently residing in Blowing Rock, North Carolina, is an assistant professor and program coordinator at Wilkes Community College teaching drawing, painting, ceramics, and art history. During the summer, Schneider teaches wood firing and kiln building at Appalachian State University.
His most recent exhibitions include the Blue Ridge Artists Guild in 2018, the Southern Appalachian Artists Guild National Juried Show in 2016, and the Moore County Fine Arts Festival also in 2016.
An award-winning artist, Schneider took home first place in sculpture during the 37th annual Northwest Artist’s League Juried Exhibition in 2016 and honorable mentions during the Southern Appalachian Artists Guild National Juried Show and the Moore County Fine Arts Festival.
