Dr. Kim Priode appointed as dean of the May School of Nursing and Health Sciences
Bringing over 35 years of experience to the table, on August 1, Dr. Kim Priode will arrive to campus and begin her tenure as the next dean of the May School of Nursing and Health Sciences and the director of nursing.
Priode arrives to campus most recently from the University of South Carolina as a faculty member and course coordinator, following academic appointments at Caldwell Community College and Appalachian State University.
Prior to her time in higher education, Priode’s professional experience includes tenures at Frye Regional Medical Center in Hickory, North Carolina, Vidant Medical Center (formerly the Pitt County Memorial Hospital) in Greenville, North Carolina, and Emanuel Medical Center in Turlock, California.
Priode earned her doctorate in nursing from East Carolina University, her Master of Science in nursing at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and her Bachelor of Science in nursing at Radford University.
“I am thrilled to be joining Lees-McRae as dean and director,” Priode said. “The college has such great potential to offer students some of the best programs while working diligently to ensure that graduates obtain a position reflecting their excellence. I hope to bring my wealth of clinical and educational experience to my faculty and team members as we assist our students in this endeavor.”
Provost and Dean of Faculty Todd Lidh also shared his thoughts.
“I am truly excited to see Dr. Kim Priode take the helm of the May School, given her passion, her intellect, her experience, and her desire to make an immediate impact,” he said. “Her history of excellence in teaching and mentoring, and her close ties to the area make her an ideal choice as the next leader of this very important part of Lees-McRae's present and future.”
