Dr. Sean Collins appointed as dean of the School of Natural and Behavioral Sciences
Former Assistant Dean of the School of Natural and Behavioral Sciences Dr. Sean Collins will step into his new role as dean of the school starting Spring 2020.
Faculty member and academic leader at Lees-McRae since 2014, Collins brings with him years of experience in the field of science with specific focuses on stream ecology, evolution, tropical biology, and zoology.
Collins earned both his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science from Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia, and his doctoral degree from the University of Cincinnati.
“I’m very excited to take on this leadership role on campus,” Collins said. “While I recently worked as the assistant dean of the School of Natural and Behavioral Sciences, stepping into the dean’s role encompasses a new set of responsibilities and opportunities. I look forward to working collaboratively with my colleagues within the school to continue serving our students as best we can.”
Provost and Dean of Faculty Todd Lidh shared his excitement as Collins rises into his new position at the college.
“Sean has already proven himself as a dedicated faculty member and leader, so I am excited to work with him in this new capacity,” Lidh said. “He is such a great listener, and that’s an enviable quality for someone doing this important faculty and administration work.”
